Privacy Policy

This policy describes what information Tax2290.ai collects when you use our IRS Form 2290 / Form 8849 e-filing service, and how we use and protect it.

Information we collect

  • Account information — email address, phone number, and password (stored as a salted hash), or your Google sign-in identity if you use Google login.
  • Filing information — the data your return requires: business name, EIN, address, officer name and PIN, vehicle VINs and weights, and (for Form 8849) claim details.
  • Tax payment details — if you choose IRS direct debit, the bank routing/account number you enter is included on your return to the IRS.
  • Service-fee payment — processed by Stripe; your card or bank details go directly to Stripe and are never stored on our servers. We keep only the transaction reference and receipt details.
  • Technical data — IP address and basic usage logs, used for security and (as the IRS requires) included in the electronic return's filing-security information.

How we use it

  • To prepare and electronically file your return with the IRS — the core purpose of the Service.
  • To deliver your IRS acknowledgement (e.g., stamped Schedule 1), receipts, and service emails.
  • To provide customer support, prevent fraud, and secure the Service.
  • We do not sell your personal information.

Who we share it with

  • The IRS, when we transmit your return through the authorized e-file system.
  • Stripe, to process the service-fee payment.
  • Infrastructure and email providers that operate the Service under confidentiality obligations.
  • Authorities, if required by law.

Security and retention

Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and access to production systems is restricted. We retain filing records as needed to service your account and to meet IRS e-file record-keeping requirements, then delete or anonymize them.

Your choices

You can review and update your account and business information in the app. To request a copy or deletion of your data (subject to records we must retain for IRS compliance), contact [email protected].
